Legendary music producer Brian Eno has published an open letter, which serves as a blistering critique of Israel’s bombardment of Gaza. Eno, formerly of Roxy music, who has produced some of the greatest albums by the likes of David Bowie, U2 and many other big names, came down hard on Israel for their attacks, which have to date killed more than 1400 Palestinians, 80% of them civilians and a third children. You can check out the link to his letter below. His letter asks some important questions and I am inspired by his courage to speak out.

Wow. This is powerful. Udi Segal, a 19 year-old Israeli from Kibbutz Tuval, was supposed to be drafted into the Israeli military on Monday, July 28, 2014. Despite the law obligating him, like most other Jewish Israelis his age, to join the military after graduating high school, Udi refused and was sentenced to 20 days in military prison. Such a courageous young man. May he inspire others to follow suit.

Love this video by Charles Eisenstein. Humanity can create such a better world than the one we’ve been handed. The best is yet to come.

“Part of us wants collapse. Because the world that we live in isn’t good enough. We feel that the world is supposed to be much more beautiful that what’s offered to us as normal. Thinking to ourselves when do we get to enjoy the fruits of thousands of years of culture and technology? So it’s natural for us to want things to fall apart. We feel trapped and don’t know how to get out, how to live in a world where its normal to look strangers in the eyes, where it’s common to love your work and look forward to Monday and not even distinguish work from play. Education should be about finding out what form of work for you is close to being play—work you do so easily that it restores you as you go. Work should be enacting and strengthening that. Live in your element, which is that of the earth, which is that of creation, which is that of the Creator.” ~ Charles Eisenstein

Thanks to Sustainable Man for this post.

“The plain fact is that the planet does not need more “successful” people. But it does desperately need more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers, and lovers of every shape and form. It needs people who live well in their places. It needs people of moral courage willing to join the fight to make the world habitable and humane. And these needs have little to do with success as our culture has defined it.” ~ David Orr
