“We are all longing to go home to some place we have never been – a place half-remembered and half-envisioned we can only catch glimpses of from time to time. Community. Somewhere, there are people to whom we can speak with passion without having the words catch in our throats. Somewhere a circle of hands will open to receive us, eyes will light up as we enter, voices will celebrate with us whenever we come into our own power. Community means strength that joins our strength to do the work that needs to be done. Arms to hold us when we falter. A circle of healing. A circle of friends. Someplace where we can be free.” -Starhawk

On this day in 1968, Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated. Let’s take this moment to honor him today for his great and tireless spirit and selfless contribution to the progress of humanity. Much love and peace to you dear brother. We shall overcome!

“Oh, my friends, if there is any one thing that we must see today is that these are revolutionary times. All over the globe men are revolting against old systems of exploitation and oppression, and out of the wounds of a frail world, new systems of justice and equality are being born. The shirtless and barefoot people of the land are rising up as never before. The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. They are saying, unconsciously, as we say in one of our freedom songs, ‘Ain’t gonna let nobody turn me around!'” ~Martin Luther King Jr.
“Those doing soul work, who want the searing truth more than solace or applause, know each other right away. Those who want something else turn and take a seat in another room. Soul-makers find each other’s company.” ~Rumi

Women’s suffragists parade down Fifth Avenue, New York, October 1917, carrying the signatures of a million women. So amazed by all the ass kicking women who came before us and risked so much for our freedoms. Forever inspired and grateful!!

Thanks to Women’s Rights News for this post.
“Each of us has the power and responsibility to heal ourselves, to be our own medicine man or woman. Awakening our innate powers of being, loving, knowing, seeing, and healing involves ongoing work at all levels and in all dimensions of our self. Exploring the range of rhythms and emotions, achieving insights into our conditioning and ego, moving through the energy levels of spirit—these are all activities to be integrated into our daily lives.” ~Gabrielle Roth

“She quietly expected great things to happen to her, and no doubt that’s one of the reasons why they did.” ~Zelda Fitzgerald

“Wildness is a necessity. I am losing precious days. I am degenerating into a machine for making money. I am learning nothing in this trivial world of men. I must break away and get out into the mountains to learn the news.” ~John Muir

“More than an end to war, we want an end to the beginning of all wars — yes, an end to this brutal, inhuman and thoroughly impractical method of settling the differences between governments.” ~Franklin D. Roosevelt

“Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages.” ~Thomas A. Edison
