Madison Chandler and Mark Smesrud co-founded Purple Door Coffee, a Denver-based nonprofit that employs young people “who have been homeless and want to leave homelessness behind.” The shop provides a 52-week curriculum, teaching employees practical skills — like budgeting and banking — as well as the know-how to improve their physical, emotional and mental health. What a beautiful business model. Posted on March 24, 2015 by underthebluedoor Posted in Inspiration 1 Comment

Birmingham, UK has found itself with a real live superhero all its own. One anonymous 20-year-old man dons a Spiderman suit every night to deliver meals to local homeless people. “Before when I was handing out food, no one would take a second look,” the anonymous superhero, who is a bartender by day, told Huffpost. “But when they see Spider-Man handing out the food they come over and ask what I’m doing and are really interested. Most importantly [they] become inspired to get involved themselves.“ Posted on March 14, 2015 by underthebluedoor Posted in General, Inspiration Leave a comment Source ~ boredpanda
“Yesterday, a man tried to yell hateful religiously inspired things about gay people in Pitt Street mall. So, myself and the other buskers moved my stuff behind him and drowned out his negativity. The crowd cheered and sang along and soon enough he was gone. Thank you Sydney for taking a stand for equality. Whether you’re homosexual or transgender or even just confused, you’re still my friend.” ~Axel Winter Posted on March 11, 2015 by underthebluedoor Posted in Inspiration 1 Comment
Raul Lemesoff, an eccentric artist in Buenos Aires, Argentina, has created a bizarre tank-like ‘Weapon Of Mass Instruction’ (Arma de Instruccion Masiva) that he intends to use to battle ignorance and spread knowledge. Driving through the streets of Buenos Aires, he delivers free books to young and old alike. His only demand – that they promise to read what he’s given them. Sonia Singh had the brilliant idea of transforming old high fashion hyper-sexualized dolls into natural looking beauties that are so adorable. Would love to see toy makers follow suit and for women everywhere to be inspired by this concept of returning to their natural beauty.
