“So many live their lives feeling unloved, unseen, unrecognized, unappreciated. So very many. You may not know who they are because we are all conditioned to hide our truth below a bushel of shame. But they are everywhere. When you make an effort to share your love, you don’t always know where it will land. But be sure that it does. Sometimes it lights a torch for others to follow. Sometimes it gives them reason to believe that there is a better life waiting for them after a lifetime of disappointment. Sometimes it builds spirits and sometimes it actually saves lives. We just have to keep giving the love wherever and whenever we can. You never know how far it will travel.” ~Jeff Brown

This is a song from Apollo Poetry in support of the One Billion Rising movement. Hope you’ll take a few minutes to watch this powerful video and join the cause. Much love!

On 14 February 2013, one billion people in 207 countries rose and danced to demand an end to violence against women and girls.

ONE BILLION RISING FOR JUSTICE is a global call to women survivors of violence and those who love them to gather safely in community outside places where they are entitled to justice – courthouses, police stations, government offices, school administration buildings, work places, sites of environmental injustice, military courts, embassies, places of worship, homes, or simply public gathering places where women deserve to feel safe but too often do not. It is a call to survivors to break the silence and release their stories – politically, spiritually, outrageously – through art, dance, marches, ritual, song, spoken word, testimonies and whatever way feels right.

Today, they are escalating their efforts, calling on women and men everywhere to RISE, RELEASE, DANCE, and demand JUSTICE!

“Take the time to go deep within, and listen to your heart. Follow that heart, wherever it may lead you. With every opportunity that comes your way, ask yourself — is this a path with heart? If it’s not, move on. There’s no time to waste in false pursuits. You can be a sacred warrior, you can be both fierce and compassionate, you have the stuff! Occupy the emptiness of corporate culture, with love.” ~ Velcrow Ripper

“A Cultivator aka The Buddhist Rapper is combining the power of Buddhism and the potency of hip hop with lyrics that bring a new perspective via an ancient practice. The native Californian first started rapping as a way to vent the anger he felt from the wars and political problems around the world but when he turned 23 he had a spiritual transformation and shifted his focus to Tibetan Buddhism. Since then he has spent everyday working hard to improve his meditation abilities and rapping skills in order to help reveal the joy that he has found in his spiritual practice.”
