Finally some good news out of Washington :) Much love to all the activists out there who raised awareness of this issue. Never surrender!

For those of you not familiar with The Keystone Pipeline, it is a project that would provide Canada with the ability to pump their oil through our land down to the Gulf where it will be sold everywhere else. There will be no benefit to us that I can see and plenty of threat to the environment and to the people who live in the communities the Pipeline would travel through. The Indigenous people of both Canada and the U.S. are fighting hard against the proposed pipeline because the lands the Pipeline will cross are Sacred Treaty Lands and to violate these lands will be seen as an act of war against their people. They are prepared to do anything it takes to stop it.

OCCUPY THE FARM tells the story of a community’s fight to save public land for urban farming. When 200 farmers march to the gates of the last farmland in the urban East Bay near Oakland, they don’t carry signs protesting University of California’s plans to build a shopping center. Instead, they carry tents, tools and 15,000 seedlings. They clip the padlock off the gate and march onto the fields. What happens next will change the fate of the land and introduce a new strategy for activism. From tilling soil and watering vegetables to police raids, from lawsuits to overflowing harvests, OCCUPY THE FARM reveals a resourceful, creative, and determined community responding with direct action to a serious social need: access to healthy food.

Check out this trailer for the film. So awesome and inspiring!

Big love to the Occupy group in Madison, Wisconsin who just cut the ribbon to open a new community of tiny houses for the homeless. The community includes 9 tiny homes, a resource center, and a gardening space. So awesome!

“You can build walls all the way to the sky and I will find a way to fly above them. You can try to pin me down with a hundred thousand arms, but I will find a way to resist. And there are many of us out there, more than you think. People who refuse to stop believing. People who refuse to come to earth. People who love in a world without walls, people who love into hate, into refusal, against hope, and without fear. I love you. Remember. They cannot take it.” ~Lauren Oliver, Delirium

“Youth. I don’t seek it through another because I have it within; it’s a state of mind, a spirit that is free, and a mind that is playful. The shell of my being is altered by the effects of time, but nothing will tarnish a soul that will never forget what its like to experience creation with endless wonder and appreciation. Each time I see the first snowfall of the season I feel it’s the first time I’ve seen it at all.” ~Donna Lynn Hope
