“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The trouble-makers. The round heads in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules, and they have no respect for the status-quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify, or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.” ~Jack Kerouac

“Kinship with all creatures of the earth, sky, and water was a real and active principle. In the animal and bird world there existed a brotherly feeling that kept us safe among them… The animals had rights – the right of man’s protection, the right to live, the right to multiply, the right to freedom, and the right to man’s indebtedness. This concept of life and its relations filled us with the joy and mystery of living; it gave us reverence for all life; it made a place for all things in the scheme of existence with equal importance to all.” ~Chief Luther Standing Bear

The woman sitting on the ground was feeding the pigeons, and I stopped for a second trying to decide if I should talk to her. As I stood there, a girl walked up to her and handed her a latte. They held each other’s hand for what seemed like a minute and exchanged heartfelt words I couldn’t quite hear. I thought they might know each other, so when the girl finally continued on her way down the street, I ran after her. “Oh, I don’t know her,“ she said. “I just know that every time I do something good, it comes back to me. It always does.”
