In what is possibly an infinite Universe, it is impossible to know if you have all the facts. So if you want the truth, you must always remain open to new information, even if it contradicts the current model/consensus. That doesn’t mean you have to believe one way or the other, it just means not dismissing anything because it doesn’t fit with what you think you know. Science is not a static thing in its own right, but a method of discovery in which the accepted model is always open to re-evaluation.
