Am experiencing something of this process for myself at the moment, and it feels liberating, frightening and peaceful by turns. To test by experience where one stands on the axis between individual and tribe – at any one moment, becasue it changes like a dance – that is my Way these days,
I’m not sure that I agree with Nietzsche that “no price is too high to pay…” because that would take us into the borderlines of “ownership of the Self” and indeed into whole universes of discussion about Self and Other. And I am “only” a biologist (and llife-writing companion and poet). However biological science itself would speak of the interactions and connections between Self and Other, particularly in terms of immunology and symbiosis and ….
A whole other story, and also connected… bla bla bla! Thank you for this measured dose of Nietzsche, testing my ability to spell as well as my arts/science interface.
