Yoko Ono wrote that famous quote 16 years before Lennon tried to say it 🙂
“A dream you dream alone may be a dream, but a dream two people dream together is a reality.” ― Yoko Ono, Grapefruit: A Book of Instructions and Drawings, 1964, p. 193
Lennon: As she said in one of her songs a long time ago, which was a quote from one of her books which was even twenty years earlier than that, “A dream you dream together…” or “A dream you dream alone is…” I don’t know, you’ll have to look it up. “A dream you dream alone is one thing, a dream you dream together is reality.” So we reestablished our dream together. ― December 1980, in All We Are Saying : The Last Major Interview with John Lennon and Yoko Ono (2000) by David Sheff, p. 16.

Thanks for the clarification 🙂
The quote also appears in Yoko’s 1972 track “Now Or Never”.
